Computer replaced

From AAS Observatory Wiki

Status: Resolved.

The computer started developing startup problems in March, 2008. Eventually it would not start at all. I delivered the PC to Jim Chandler, who replaced it with another PC by March 31. The new PC is:

  • Compaq Deskpro EN
  • 1Ghz P3
  • 3 slots for PC133 SDRAM, with maximum of 512MB.

Currently, there is a single 256MB module installed; so, either another 256 or a pair of 128s would max out.

Update 7/28/2008

The wireless network has not been accessible for the past 2 weeks, even though I could reach it with my laptop. On Sunday 7/27/2008, Rich McMahon fixed the problem. According to Rich,

So the old wirelss card was reinstalled and the one that had its drivers and software removed (cd is missing too) is in the anti static bag in the desk. The wireless card is configured now along with a fresh install of AVG virus and a firewall put back on.
