Harlan Smith auto-rotates
From AAS Observatory Wiki
Status: Resolved.
The Harlan Smith telescope tends to auto-rotate. That is, the outer tube assembly (OTA) rotates in the tube rings, so that guests sometimes are unable to easily view objects through the eyepiece, which is usually pointed downwards after the rotation completes. This problem was fixed after the Telescope Gurus reworked the tube rings in a clever way that I am not really able to describe.
